Ver, sentir y transformar: así entiendo el arte.
Soy Angélica Cortez, artista visual originaria de Chiapas. Desde muy joven descubrí en el arte una forma de observar el mundo con otros ojos, de cuestionar lo que nos rodea y de crear espacios donde lo cotidiano y lo profundo puedan dialogar.

Mi práctica se centra en la cerámica, pero no se queda ahí. Me muevo entre la pintura, la escultura y lo digital, explorando cada medio como un lenguaje único. Me interesa lo social, lo íntimo y lo colectivo: temas como la identidad, la memoria, el territorio y las estructuras que habitamos están presentes en mi obra.

Trabajo con técnicas diversas porque creo que cada idea necesita su propia forma de nacer. A veces eso significa ensuciarme las manos con barro, otras veces trabajar en pantalla, combinando tradición y tecnología para crear piezas que hablen desde el presente.

Para mí, crear es una manera de resistir, cuidar y conectar.

See, feel, and transform — that's how I understand art.

I'm Angélica Cortez, a visual artist from Chiapas. From a very young age, I discovered in art a way to see the world through different eyes, to question what surrounds us, and to create spaces where the everyday and the profound can engage in dialogue.

My practice focuses on ceramics, but it doesn't stop there. I move between painting, sculpture, and digital media, exploring each medium as a unique language. I'm interested in the social, the intimate, and the collective: themes such as identity, memory, territory, and the structures we inhabit are present in my work.

I work with diverse techniques because I believe each idea needs its own way of being born. Sometimes that means getting my hands dirty with clay; other times it means working on a screen, blending tradition and technology to create pieces that speak from the present.

For me, creating is a way to resist, to care, and to connect.
